Security & Responsibility

ECOWEEK hosts both physical and online events. Online events are based on credible and widely used platforms, provided by expert companies. Physical events take place in venues that are accessible, healthy and safe, the owners of which comply with current health and other regulations. ECOWEEK is not responsible for the equipment needed by each participant to participate to an ECOWEEK event - such as laptop, software, etc., or for individual or group travel of participants. ECOWEEK is not responsible for the health conditions of the participants in its events - whether physical or virtual, and is not responsible for the unlikely event of injury or loss of personal property (including computer equipment and software) during an ECOWEEK event. With your registration and/or participation and/or volunteering and/or internship with ECOWEEK and/or at an ECOWEEK event, you agree that ECOWEEK, its organizers, staff, invited professionals, volunteers, and guests, have no responsibility for injury or health issue or death or damage or loss, theft, fire, flood, computer virus or any other damage to private property during ECOWEEK events and in ECOWEEK related venues and activities – physical or virtual.

Workshops participation

Each ECOWEEK participant, with your participation in these workshops, you agree that you are choosing this activity at your own risk and responsibility, that you take full and sole responsibility for yourself and your personal belongings and property (including computer equipment and software), your security and health, and that you waive any claim for responsibility or compensation from ECOWEEK, its legal representatives, staff, assistants, associates, volunteers, partners, the workshop leaders and any other legal entity directly or indirectly involved in the organization and implementation of ECOWEEK events and activities – physical or virtual.

Volunteers & Interns Participation

Throughout a volunteering / internship session and/or volunteering / internship project with ECOWEEK, volunteers / interns agree that ECOWEEK is not responsible for the equipment needed by each volunteer / intern to participate to the ECOWEEK organized activities and events, and for individual or group travel of participants and/or volunteers and/or interns. ECOWEEK is not responsible for the health conditions of the volunteers / interns during the ECOWEEK organized activities and/or events, and is not responsible for the unlikely event of injury or health problem or death or loss or damage of property (including computer equipment and software) during volunteering / internship, in organizing an ECOWEEK event and/or during an ECOWEEK event. With your participation as a volunteer / intern to ECOWEEK, you agree that ECOWEEK, its organizers, staff, invited professionals and guests, have no responsibility for injury or health issue or death or damage or loss, damage or theft of private property during the ECOWEEK organized activities and/or events and in ECOWEEK related venues and activities – physical or virtual. ECOWEEK participants are required to acquire health or equipment insurance to ensure coverage in the unlikely event of loss, injury, sickness or death.

 

With your participation as an ECOWEEK volunteer / intern you agree that the position is a non-paid position on a volunteer basis, there is no relationship of employer and employee, ECOWEEK is not obliged to cover any financial or health or other obligations to volunteer - unless otherwise agreed in writing - and ECOWEEK and/or its administrative team are not obliged or expected to make a job offering or other employment opportunity to a volunteer at any time. Change of status for a volunteer will be made in writing only. 

Participation as a volunteer / intern requires that the volunteer abides with health guidelines in the country of residence or country of volunteering / internship with ECOWEEK. ECOWEEK volunteers / interns are required to acquire health or equipment insurance to ensure coverage in the unlikely event of loss, injury, sickness or death.

 

Participation as a volunteer requires that the volunteer, as a volunteer member in the ECOWEEK team, must commit to participate for the entire duration of the program and/or activity as set by the organizing team, and in particular in all time slots of collaboration and communication with the group. A volunteer may be required to register in an online registration form and submit contact details. Communication will be made through the email provided by the volunteer. ECOWEEK is not responsible for false or incorrect contact or other incorrect details submission. Selected volunteers may be invited for a selection interview and/or for an interview for the ECOWEEK  social media platforms.

In terms of confidentiality, volunteers may be offered tasks that involve access to sensitive and confidential ECOWEEK data, information and materials. With your participation as a volunteer to ECOWEEK, you agree that you are fully forbidden to make use of any ECOWEEK data outside of the organization including copying, transferring, or retrieving this data in any form or medium, at any time and for any reason, other than for the completion of the task that you are given, and within the strict limits of the platforms of the organization. Use of data may only be used within the organization, and it may only be handled with prior permission and with set guidelines. Any other use, is forbidden and its use is illegal.

Cancellation Policy

Canceling your participation / volunteering / internship with ECOWEEK must be made in writing at least one (1) month prior to your change of status. If your registration to ECOWEEK event involves payment, the cancellation of registration must be made in writing to ECOWEEK. Please write to ecoweek@ecoweek.org. Unless otherwise noted, cancellation written request received up to thirty (30) days before the opening date of the event / conference will receive fifty percent (50%) of registration fees paid (with the deduction of any bank transfer fees that were paid by ECOWEEK). For cancellations less than thirty (30) days prior to the opening date of the event / conference, no refund will be made. EARLY Registration and SPECIAL OFFERS (such as 1+1 deals, etc.) are non-refundable.

Non-Discrimination Policy

ECOWEEK does not and shall not discriminate and will not accept any discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations.

Copyright & Intellectual Property

With your registration to ECOWEEK as a participant, volunteer, intern, or tutor, you agree that this is a collective activity where you contribute your share in the common project. Therefore, you accept that ECOWEEK can publish and promote your workshop project at its discretion. With your participation in an ECOWEEK workshop you are entitled to include your own ECOWEEK workshop project in your private portfolio and get credit for it. You are obliged to mention explicitly that this work ‘was performed / created during ECOWEEK – the date, the city and the country’. The copyright and all other intellectual property rights in the products, outputs, prototypes or other results of the collective workshop remains with ECOWEEK, and as ECOWEEK staff and/or volunteers are involved in the project in any form, then ECOWEEK retains claim to the intellectual property rights of the project and its printed, video and any other expression. Publication and/or further use and/or development of the workshop project and/or idea and/or its printed expression requires prior written permission by ECOWEEK. 

Any person who attends an ECOWEEK event and/or lecture and/or workshop associated with or organized by ECOWEEK, including the online Green Talks, an awards ceremony, competition, exhibition or other, grants to ECOWEEK the irrevocable, worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free, sublicensable and transferable right to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display and perform any audio recordings, photographs, video or other images in which such person(s) may be included that are taken at such event, whether accurate or distorted in character or form, without restrictions to changes or transformations, in conjunction with such person’s own name, person’s initials, or a fictitious name at our discretion, or no name at all. In addition, grants to ECOWEEK the right to publicize and disseminate information on selected speakers and/or workshop leaders specialized in the field through the ECOWEEK Blog, and social media, in order to promote their participation in ECOWEEK.

The use of any trademark, service mark or logo of Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, YouTube, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or any other media outlet is not meant to imply such media outlet’s endorsement of, or affiliation with ECOWEEK in any way. Similarly, the use of the above trademarks is not meant in any way to imply that ECOWEEK is associated with or endorses the activity, opinions or business of this outlet.

COVID-19

ECOWEEK takes safety very seriously and complies with local guidelines and restrictions for in-situ, indoor, outdoor and online activity. ECOWEEK activity takes place when and as permitted, following strictly any guidelines and/or restrictions. We require from our participants and team to take every possible measure to protect yourself against COVID-19, whether by wearing masks, maintaining physical distance of at least one (1) or two (2) meters or as set by local guidelines from others, or by frequently maintaining hygiene to eliminate being infecting or infecting others. Please follow safety and distance guidelines in your location and the location of the ECOWEEK activity (if relevant). ECOWEEK does  not take responsibility for participants and/or team infected whether or not due to negligence or non-compliance with regulation and guidelines.
