In 2014 ECOWEEK visited two new countries, thanks to the initiative of young professionals who thanks to their enthusiasm, skills and leadership, activated local partners and organized successful events in their cities. They were successful thanks to collaborations with professionals and students, and the support of institutions, universities, municipalities and local businesses. Two significant events took place.

On September 14-21 ECOWEEK was hosted by ARUP in London, UK, with speakers from Canada, Germany, UK, Israel, Italy and the Netherlands, and a free-hand architectural sketching session with Elias. Among other workshop themes, architect Thomas Kauretz’s challenged students to use newspapers for the creation of a full scale seating installation in the center of London.

On October 12-19 initiated and organized by former ECOWEEK associate Argjira Krasniqi ECOWEEK was held in Prishtina, Kosovo with keynote speaker award-winning French architect the late Francoise-Helene Jourda, and US architect Rusty Smith of the Rural Studio,  and speakers from Poland, Greece, the Netherlands, Italy and Kosovo. The event opened with a free-hand architectural sketching session with Elias. The workshops included the reuse of Thermokos building outside Prishtina.

Both events included one-week sustainable design workshops, led by local and international architects, designers and landscape architects.

The ECOWEEK events in UK and Kosovo, which were open and free admission to the general public, were made possible thanks to the enthusiasm and hard work of numerous volunteers, professionals and businesses, who enthusiastically led activities, supported and assisted in making the events possible and successful. ECOWEEK events in UK and Kosovo, made a significant impact in raising environmental awareness in each location.
