In 2010 ECOWEEK held two significant events: On March 13-20, in Athens, Greece, organized by Elias with former ECOWEEK Associate Faidra Matziaraki, with keynote speaker Daniel Wicke of the Rural Studio; and on July 25 - August 1, organized by Elias, in Tel-Aviv, Israel with keynote speakers award-winning Danish architect Bjarke Ingels (BIG) and award-winning american architect the late Michael Sorkin.
The ECOWEEK 2010 workshops in Greece were assigned with the task to design a passive solar house of zero-emissions. The workshops dealt with a more tangible project of smaller scale, that would give both students and workshop leaders practical experience and tools in passive solar design, and the application of passive and active renewable energy technologies.
The ECOWEEK 2020 workshops in Israel were assigned with diverse assignments, of various scales, in different locations throughout Israel, from the north to the south.
The ECOWEEK events in Greece and Israel, which were open and free admission to the general public, were made possible thanks to the enthusiasm and hard work of numerous volunteers, professionals and businesses, who enthusiastically led activities, supported and assisted in making the events possible and successful. ECOWEEK events in Greece, and in Israel, made a significant impact in raising environmental awareness in each location.
